Tempo LED feedback

I am trying to send LED feedback to a button that flashes to the tempo of the ableton set, but also multiplies/divides based on a parameter of the device (1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 4 etc.) I see that another user made a max4live device that produces a 1+0+2+0+3+0+4+0 pattern, giving CSS something to listen to. Are there any other ways to solve this other than max4live?
