Hi,

I want to select a track & device automatically as a reaction to switching modes by button

So mode 1: Ableton general
Mode 2: Special instrument

Whenever I switch to mode 2 I want to have for example: track 1 device 0 selected.

Thanks!

Hi,

A couple of things to get this working:
1 add a 'select device' mapping in mode 1. You can do this by adding a track, a device inside that, then the 'select device' inside the device. select the track and device you want to move to in those track and device mappings.
Set the device mapping to use the same button as your mode 2 selector.
As it is set to the same button as your mode selector, you will need to make sure that the mode selector fires before the mode selector switches the script to mode 2 (which would remove the device select functionality).
Moving the select device mapping above the mode selector should ensure that this happens in the correct order.

Or! add the 'select device' mapping to mode 2.
For it to work in mode 2, the mapping will need to fire after the mode has switched. As the mode will switch when you press the button down, you can set your select device mapping to fire when you release the button.
To do this, go into the 'select device' mapping,
change control to 'custom'
control type 'on/off'
and switch around the On and Off values.
On should now be 0, and off 127.

Hi John,

Is it possible to go one further and sected a device within a chain?

So when I press button 1, it switches to mode 2 and selects device 1, chain 1 and chain device 2

At the moment the device selector seems to have the following limitations.

1. In device selector option, when you select the "selected" option, you lose the ability to select Chain targeting.

2. In device selector option, the chain targeting does not extend to chain devices

When using reactions, the conditions option allows you to select: Selected track > Chain number & Chain device number.

So I am wondering if what I am after is possible with the custom code option, or, am I doing something wrong?
