Hi there,
I dropped an email via your contact page but not heard back yet so thought I'd post here.

Just come across this app and it looks cool. I have an APC40mkii and I'd like to add/change some functionality on the script that it comes with. I'd appreciate if you could let me know which of the following things Remotify Control Surface can do?
- Can it extend/modify an existing script in some way - run at the same time and just taking over certain functions?
- If not, can it replicate the full feature-set of what the apc40mkii already does?
- Do you provide a base script for apc40mkii that can be used as a starting point?
- I would like to map the A|B buttons to control SENDS instead, where it cycles through SENDA(light red) SENDB (light ambed) SENDA+B(light off). Is this possible?
- I would like to map the numbered buttons on the right to named DEVICE selection buttons (so that button one selects a device with name containing "[1]" for example. I would like the button to light for the selected device so it's clear which device is selected and for the 8 rotaries to always control the macros of the selected device.
- I would like to have a shift mode so that when pressing shift, the 1-8 buttons show which devices are enabled, and pressing the 1-8 buttons toggles them on and off.
- I would like the SOLO buttons to be able to also solo some other tracks, so when you press solo, it solos the current track + any other tracks with "[solo]" in the name (or at least some hardcoded track names)
- I'd like to be able to DELETE/COPY/PASTE clips
- I'd like to be able to mark some tracks to have a vertical lock so that they stay at a fixed position (for selecting dummy clips)
- I'd like a way to show the volume of a track - either via the rotaries at the top of the APC40, or using the lights of the track select or track stop buttons.

I'd appreciate if someone could let me know which of these are possible with Remotify Control Surface before I purchase and spend time attempting them.

Many thanks, Tom

Hi. Maybe i can give you some answeres

- Can it extend/modify an existing script in some way - run at the same time and just taking over certain functions?
I guess not the way you would like.

- If not, can it replicate the full feature-set of what the apc40mkii already does?
No, not the full feature set. Theres no RGB Clipcolor feedback, no clip/device/detail views, no device lock and no clipstart quantization available in the app. And the switch for Sends/Pan must be done via modes, and than you donĀ“t have an independent shift button.

- Do you provide a base script for apc40mkii that can be used as a starting point?
thereĀ“s no base script includet.

- I would like to map the A|B buttons to control SENDS instead, where it cycles through SENDA(light red) SENDB (light ambed) SENDA+B(light off). Is this possible?
Independent for every track? No.

- I would like to map the numbered buttons on the right to named DEVICE selection buttons (so that button one selects a device with name containing "[1]" for example. I would like the button to light for the selected device so it's clear which device is selected and for the 8 rotaries to always control the macros of the selected device.
You can create buttons to select a specific device (track 2, device 3, for example) and you can create device controlls for the selected device. but if you change the track or device, the controlls move to the next selected device. You can also create device controlls for a specific device and switch the device controlls via modes to the specific devices you have created the controlls for. but that will use modes, so you canĀ“t use the different device selections and the selections for the sends independently.

- I would like to have a shift mode so that when pressing shift, the 1-8 buttons show which devices are enabled, and pressing the 1-8 buttons toggles them on and off.
possible, but like i said before, that would not be independent of other switches/modes/shifts

- I would like the SOLO buttons to be able to also solo some other tracks, so when you press solo, it solos the current track + any other tracks with "[solo]" in the name (or at least some hardcoded track names)
you can map the soloĀ“s for the tracks on the same button, but i guess you canĀ“t map anything to specific track names.

- I'd like to be able to DELETE/COPY/PASTE clips
not yet with remotify

- I'd like to be able to mark some tracks to have a vertical lock so that they stay at a fixed position (for selecting dummy clips)
This is impossible for remotify and also for Live. The only way to do something like that, is using another controller/script (or a max4live device) with an independent redbox. ThereĀ“s a M4L device with script called session-box.

The APC40 MK2 is one of the best controllers for Ableton Live and in my opinion itĀ“s not worth using remotify to create a user script with less functionality than the original. As i know, there are some free M4L devices for the APC (like the step sequencer) that grabs the controlls from the original script. That opens possibilities...

If you are up for a second controller, cheaper than push2 but a lot of functions innately. Keep an eye on the Native Instruments Maschine Jam ;)
