newbie questions: 2 of the same controllers? controlling utility device?

i have 2 launch control XLs and two launch controls combined together making up a 16 channel mixer with 5 sends. i currently just midi map it.

question 1 - is it possible to have 2 of the same controllers and have them assigned to different scripts? how does ableton know which controller is which?

question 2 - i usually map faders to a utility device gain knob on each channel, rather than to the track fader. this is to make dub mixing easier. is it possible with remotify to script a fader to a utility device gain knob for the applicable track?
