Momentary solo behavior

Hi ,

Great concept this is. It might be useful for my custom build controller.

What I want to do is as follows:

I have latch type switches on my controller that have a led build in. So I press it and it makes contact, I press it again and the contact is broken (non momentary).

Now I want to use this button to activate solo. So I press it, it makes contact --> activate solo. So I press it again, the contact is broken it should deactivate. So solo should be activated as long as it receives the CC and deactivated when the CC sending stops (actually the same principle as holding a momentary type button and releasing it). Since my build controller has only midi out it does get any feedback for activating the leds, but I since I can wire the button such way that the led light up when the contact is made and goes off when the contact is broken I can still see visually that a solo is on.

In my initial ableton project I will set the solos all in a deactivated state so it does not matter that the controller does not get Ableton feedback.

Hopefully it's understandable what I'm trying to achieve and someone can answer me if this possible with the Remotify script.

I also see huge potential in the session boxing. My controller has now 12 channels which are now hard mapped to 12 channels in my default project but I could assign two paging buttons (momentary type) on my controller to shift the assigned controls to any added extra channels in my ableton project . That would give my custom controller kind of APC40 functionality.
This concept is awesome.

Hi Tijs79,

We've only ever tested controllers which use usb for connection rather than a midi out cable so I'm not entirely sure but my guess is that you would need a midi in to receive midi from the computer which includes velocity values that are sent which light up LEDs on controllers.
In Ableton you need to be able to set the input and output settings as your controller on both the control surface options and midi ports inside the preferences > link/midi tab.

I like the sound of your APC40 style setup, I hope remotify can help you achieve it :)
