Hey there, John, and all fellow CSS enthusiasts!
So, I'm sitting here, working on my masterpiece of a midi-template, and I have to admit, it's hard. This is somewhat like the early years of learning to use a DAW, with hours and hours of trial and error.
Now, I cannot emphasize enough how much this software has helped me, but I've reached a point where I need more in-depth knowledge and more resources for information on CSS and Ableton live programming, and I realize that John C is just too busy to offer adequate support.
So that begs the question, is there anything that could be done to create a better and more present community, and a better system for sharing documentation and tutorials on CSS and Ableton Live python programming? I mean, a better forum platform would go a long way. Or perhaps we could start a discord?
I'm not familiar with forum or discord moderation, but I'll volunteer if need be.
I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here, it's just that we could all be learning so much faster and effectively if we could do it together in a proper way.

Imagine if we could host monthly workshops on discord. Perhaps you could chime in, John, on some of the more advanced features of CSS, like lists, modifiers, relative properties/values and any relevant but simple python language.
The possibilities are (almost) endless!

Yes, I have! Well, most of them. And I would recommend everyone do the same. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the tutorials. You've obviously put a lot of work into those as well!
It's nuts how much potential there is in CSS, and there's almost no end to how deep you can go with it, so that's kind of why I thought it would be cool to have a more tight knit and active community.
i like that idea, i think it would help expand whats possible in ableton and CSS
I think this would be very useful. I don't often react to fora but here we are.
If we can come to some agreement with John, it can be a more informal and quick place for communication and collaboration, even real-time bugfixing with other CSS folks.
Beyond that, I think it will make people share their setups more easily, in turn inspiring others and growing the community a bit. I'm always shocked at how few people use remote scripts and decide to buy expensive gear that's practically just knobs and a fancy script.
Maybe something hands-off for John, so he doesn't get bombarded with bugfix requests or questions? I think it would be nice for it to be his own channel though.
I'll try to stay up to date with this thread. I'm up for doing some setting up for a server and communicating with John how we can make this a win-win for everybody.
This is a great idea. I'm pretty new to the platform but I'm already coming to some conclusions that getting into python would really take not only midi scripts, but also ableton live automation to the next level I independently have experience with both max/msp and python but funnily enough never developed in max 4 live or interfaced with lives object model. I would be very interested in a discord and some recurring session to learn and contribute more.

Personally I like wikis, as long as they are moderated they can be great.
I've only got limited experience with Discord (more as an audio chat program) but if it is also adapted to creating durable content then maybe that's a good solution.
I would give all my reactions and concepts away including explanations if my threads would be answered in this forum.....before that i cant go on...
